The Martin-Baker Mk.16 is a modern British ejection seat (another term: ejection seat), manufactured in several versions that differ in terms of technical characteristics. The official website of the manufacturer states that currently (2019) there are over 1,600 seats of this type in service for the Mk.16LA version. The Martin-Baker Mk.16 catapult seat has been developed as a relatively technologically advanced device, offering, compared to the previous manufacturer's seats, an improved field of view of the pilot, a significant improvement in the comfort of his work, but also an increase in the efficiency of the seat and significantly improved reliability. It was also designed to be used on many types of aircraft. In the Mk.16LA version, the seat is used on T-6 Texan II airplanes. The Mk.16A model, on the other hand, is used on Eurofighter aircraft. However, the modernized and probably the most advanced version (Mk.16E) is used on the F-35 Lightning II machines.
