Italian anti-aircraft gun Cannone-Mitragliera da 20/65 modello 35 (for short: Breda model 35) 20 mm caliber was developed in the early 1930s and entered service in Regia Marina before the outbreak of World War II. The maximum range of this weapon was estimated at approx. 5,500 meters. The practical rate of fire was about 200-240 rounds per minute. It is worth adding that the barrel length of this gun was 65 calibers, i.e. 1.3 meters. Italian anti-aircraft gun Breda model 35 20 mm caliber was developed at the Societa Italiana Ernesto Breda plant, primarily for use by the Italian land forces. However, the gun was quickly adapted to the needs of the Italian Navy, where it was mounted on many types of Italian ships in single and double mounts. It was to provide the Regia Marina ships with anti-aircraft cover at short and very short distances. Overall, the weapon was considered successful, but under continuous fire, was subject to considerable vibrations and therefore slightly inferior to the 20mm Oerlikon gun.
