Medusa is a creature from Greek mythology whose father was the sea god Forkos and mother was the goddess Keto. Medusa had two sisters - Steno and Euriale, both of whom were called gorgons. Interestingly, Medusa was fatal, while her sisters were seen as immortal. According to one version of the myth, Medusa was initially a woman of extraordinary beauty, who boasted especially lush and strong hair, which rivaled the goddess Athena. Angry and jealous, the goddess turned her competitor into a monster, whose hair was transformed into hissing and poisonous snakes, and the neck was covered with dragon scales. Medusa's teeth were transformed into wild fangs, and her gaze made everyone who caught them turn to stone. Medusa was terrifying and disgusting not only for mortals, but also for a large part of the Olympic gods. The hero who killed Medusa with the help of Athena was Perseus - son of Danae. It is worth adding that after Medusa's death, the sons of Poseidon, including Pegasus, escaped from her neck.
